Experienced Independent Contractor to work on a contract or freelance basis to identify funding needs, determine priorities for grants, research grant opportunities, write and apply for potential grants and funding opportunities. The Grant Writer will be responsible for grant development and management, to include researching funding options, writing and applying for appropriate grants, forming partnerships for the purpose of grant applications. Grants Writer will also be responsible for management of awarded grants to include guidelines, reports, data and compliance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages timeline and data collection required of each grant
  • Collects or oversees collection of all data in an organized, collaborative, and transparent process
  • Understands requirements and guidelines of all grants and assures compliance with grantor and all other regulatory bodies
  • Manages and assures timely submission of all required reports for grants
  • Facilitates appropriate publication of grant results and outcomes to share with Board members, stakeholders, and community
  • Collaborates with Finance staff on Grant awards, reporting, invoicing, and allocations to providers as appropriate
  • Collaborates with program and finance staff on content of contracts and contract modifications for providers receiving grant funds
  • Draft, review, file, and update a variety of documents, to include memorandums, information and issue papers, briefings, executive summaries, and e-mails as needed
  • Special Projects as assigned

 SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in English, Journalism or Communications, or comparable education and life experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience writing grants and/or communications materials and grant funder relationship management, preferably in the environmental nonprofit sector
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills: demonstrated ability to transform technical detail into compelling prose for a broad funder audience
  • High level of attention to detail and deadline management experience, ability to manage busy grant deadlines calendar and work across teams to draft, refine, and submit on time all funding request related documents
  • Ability to manage sensitive and potentially confidential material with professional standard of discretion, with both internal and external audiences

  • General office environment; temperature controlled
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment, e.g. copiers, phones, computers
  • Sitting for extended periods of time
