Position

Reporting to the Senior Program Manager, Idaho, the Idaho Program Manager is a service provider of Hire Heroes USA’s programs to military service members, veterans, and military spouses. The Program Manager leads employment initiatives and supports career-focused events throughout the state of Idaho on behalf of Hire Heroes USA. The Program Manager is the liaison between federal and state employers, state government, military, nonprofit, and philanthropy organizations. A majority of the Program Manager’s time will be spent establishing relationships with local stakeholders including businesses, increasing brand awareness, and coordinating efforts with like entities. In addition, the Program Manager will engage active duty service members, veterans, and military spouse clients in person, on the phone, or via email, to educate the clients in effective job search techniques, improve the client's resume, and develop the client’s interview skills. The Program Manager must have the flexibility for travel throughout the state of Idaho which may occasionally include weekends and federal holidays.

Candidates must reside in Boise, ID, and will be required to be onsite, located at the Idaho Outdoor Field House (Boise, Idaho), up to 3 days/week

Responsibilities

Community Connector & Employment Liaison

  • Conduct one-on-one engagements with employers through diverse channels, including site visits, telephone interactions, and electronic communications
  • Establish and nurture relationships with employers, both potential and existing, to facilitate the employment of Idaho job seekers
  • Refer clients to employer points of contact for informational interviews and networking opportunities; provide mock interviews, employment referral, and employment coaching to job seekers on-site; act as a liaison between Idaho employment efforts and Hire Heroes USA team members

Service Delivery Support

  • Support Transition Specialists in resolving Idaho client concerns and research education and employment opportunities through event attendee follow-up and outreach 
  • Provide 1:1 engagement on-site with Mission43 members and Hire Heroes USA clients while serving as a subject matter expert for the Employment Pillar
  • Conduct sourcing and matching strategies to provide Idaho job-seeking clients with opportunities through the dynamic employer network

Educational Outreach & Training

  • Assist in facilitating events, leading round table discussions, and working with clients while on-site and throughout the state of Idaho
  • Collaborate with Hire Heroes USA’s Corporate Partnerships and Capacity Building teams to create further opportunities for employers through partnerships and volunteer opportunities
  • Educate and train employers on the benefits of hiring veterans and military spouses
  • Provide ongoing support to employers in implementing military-friendly policies and practices within their organizations;  offering guidance on recruitment strategies and retention efforts for military community members
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement that values learning and commitment to quality
  • Support organization events and fundraisers as needed
  • Approximate travel requirement 30%

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Basic understanding of the military and/or the Veterans Administration
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact professionally and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including internal staff, external partners, and community service organizations
  • Basic proficiency with Salesforce Lightning; advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Zoom, and Social Media platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of career exploration, effective job search tactics, and strategy, and overall career planning and management
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to translate career topics to audiences of widely different levels of experience and knowledge
  • Ability to gather and synthesize large amounts of information to develop the expertise needed to support the evolving needs of the Client Services team
  • Experience coordinating referrals and partnerships
  • Experience with public speaking – able to present/speak on webinars, workshops, podcasts, and other public platforms
  • Familiarity with the service area
  • The ability to manage and influence external relationships, strong negotiation, and time management skills
  • The ability to research and develop a strategy in prospecting potential partnerships, strong interpersonal, customer service, and problem-solving skills. As well as the ability to interact with Hire Heroes and Mission 43 leadership, the general public, and military audiences at a variety of levels with integrity and professionalism.

Estimated New Hire Salary: $70,000 annually

Hire Heroes USA may offer additional compensation to include annual bonuses, merit increases, cost of living, special or extra assignments outside the scope of the role, cell phone stipend, internet stipend, relocation, awards, compensatory time off, overtime, and gaining knowledge and proficiency through certifications and licensing.
