Reporting to a Manager, the Volunteer Coordinator supports the Volunteer Program as the primary point of contact for volunteers at Hire Heroes USA. The Volunteer Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Director, Manager, and fellow Coordinators, working as a team to ensure clients are connected to the right volunteer for their unique situation. Coordinators play a key role in delivering quality service to clients and empowering volunteers to be effective advocates for Hire Heroes. Much of their time is spent managing multiple volunteer requests, communicating with clients and volunteers, scheduling, and following up to ensure successful outcomes, all within a supportive and collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule volunteer activities by communicating with clients, staff, and volunteers making every effort to understand the need and match it to the best qualified volunteer
  • Conduct individual and/or group onboarding calls and information sessions for volunteers ensuring consistent information is included in the volunteer’s record
  • Provide exceptional volunteer stewardship through active volunteer communication, recognition and record-keeping
  • Respond to clients with exceptional customer service, ensuring timely and clear communications; work to resolve misunderstandings promptly
  • Use Salesforce reports and dashboards for efficient identification and sourcing of volunteers, tracking of requests, processing volunteers, and more
  • Contribute to a solutions-focused team environment through daily coordination with other Volunteer Coordinators, ensuring requests are fulfilled efficiently and effectively
  • Maintain accurate and current volunteer, client, and request records to facilitate program evaluation, accountability, and enable volunteer recognition
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement by bringing forward ideas and recommendations that elevate programs, processes, and products in a collaborative team environment
  • Drive program growth and expansion by leading select projects and subprograms with direction and support from the Program Manager
  • Collaborate with team members organization-wide to address volunteer-related questions, share strategies, and highlight opportunities for volunteer support
  • Actively seek out and set goals for professional development opportunities that further personal development and the development of the Volunteer Team
  • Support Hire Heroes USA program events, departments, and services as needed
  • Perform other tasks as directed

Requirements & Preferences
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated conflict resolution and interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be able to maintain clear, frequent, written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of a team, while productively engaging others at varying levels of seniority within and outside Hire Heroes USA
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects and initiatives at one time
  • Demonstrated experience working with volunteers preferred and passion for their successful integration into an organization’s mission
  • At least one year of work experience preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce database preferred

Estimated New Hire Salary: $44,750 - $50,403 annually

Hire Heroes USA may offer additional compensation to include: Annual bonuses, merit increases, cost of living, special or extra assignments outside the scope of the role, cell phone stipend, internet stipend, relocation, awards, compensatory time off, overtime, and gaining knowledge and proficiency through certifications and licensing.
